Kirsten Marie Brownlee, aged 83, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024, surrounded by an outpouring of love from her family and friends. Kirsten was the beloved anchor of her family, especially after the passing of her parents, Lester and Harriet. Her strength and warmth will be deeply missed by her two devoted children, Kirsten Askins and Joel Tisch, who remained by her side, caring for her throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Timothy Brownlee, but is survived by her brothers Lester and Mark, and her sister, Mary Elizbeth.
As a cherished sister and aunt, Kirsten was blessed with a large extended family, including many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, all of whom she adored.
Kirsten dedicated much of her professional life to Crystal Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation, where she served as the head of housekeeping. She was known as a great leader, loved and respected by her loyal staff. After retirement, she found joy and purpose as a Eucharistic minister and catechism teacher at St. Luke's Church in Toms River, NJ.
A woman of many passions, Kirsten loved gardening and landscaping, always surrounding herself with beauty and nature. Though she had a unique love for the beach, she amusingly preferred to avoid the sand, ocean, fish, and hot sun but loved to watch the stormy seas. Kirsten had a soft spot for animals, always accompanied by one or two little dogs who were her faithful companions.
To know Kirsten was to love her. Her candid nature and sharp wit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was never one to hold back, and when she spoke, people listened. Her humor and deep love for her family were the hallmarks of her character.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, August 23, 2024 9:00am – 10:00am at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 995 Fischer Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow to St. Luke’s RC Church, Toms River at 10:30am.
