Lance R. Pines, 61, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Born in Newark, NJ to Robert and Joan (Rybarczyk) Peins on September 6,1963, Lance was raised in Toms River and was a member of the first graduating class in 1981 from the then-newest high school in Toms River, “Toms River H.S East.” Lance went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stockton University, and while working toward a master’s degree, Lance was a substitute teacher in the Manchester School District. During this time, he often contemplated a career as an educator, however, Lance’s calling was Law Enforcement. Lance’s devotion to service spanned over his 30-year career in law enforcement, first as an officer with Seaside Heights Police Department, then later as a K-9 Specialist for Norfolk Southern Police Department. After retiring last year, Lance’s passion to serve continued by helping friends and family and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. He was just beginning a new chapter, traveling and enjoying free time with his dogs, Stella and Tonka and family and friends.
We are all deeply saddened by the loss of Lance. He leaves behind his daughter Brittney and husband, Joe King Jr., and beloved grandsons, Joey and Hunter, of Galloway; his parents, Robert and Joan, of Toms River; his loving girlfriend, Joan Aljian, of South Plainfield; his brothers, Kurt Pines and fiancée, Bettina Havard, of Freehold, and Derek Pines and wife, Sandra, of Toms River; his sister, Jennifer and husband, Ken Ebberup, of Toms River; his much-loved nephews, Christian, Brandon, Eddie, and niece, Alexandra; several aunts and uncles, cousins and many beloved friends.
Viewing will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 2-6pm with a Service at 5pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals at 995 Fischer Blvd Toms River, NJ. Committal will be Private.
