Leonard I. Marks

Leonard “Lenny” I. Marks, 69, of Berkeley Twp., NJ, passed away Wednesday,

October 22, 2025.

Born in Bronx, NY, he lived in Bogota, NJ before moving to Berkeley Twp. 5 years ago.

Lenny was a graduate of Emerson College in Boston, MA.  He worked in Sales for many years before his retirement, however his true calling was music. He was a musician with a passion for songwriting, playing for years alongside close friends all over the metropolitan area. Post retirement, he created Lennyland Studio in his beloved home in Toms River, where he would have friends and family come and record with him. 

Since moving to Toms River, Lenny rekindled his love for riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed taking scenic rides to his favorite places, including the lake and the ocean.

Above all else, Lenny’s greatest pride and happiness came from his family, including his dogs and granddogs. Lenny was predeceased by his parents Sandy and Phyllis Marks and his son in law Brian Schaefer. He is survived by his wife Alexis (nee DeNegri), his four daughters Tina Schaefer, Shannon Ballard (Samuel), Cassidy Marks (Jason Markowski) and Maleyna Marks, his three grandchildren Amanda Schaefer, Matthew Ballard, and Lily Ballard, a brother Richard Marks, a sister Linda Lucas, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will be hosting a celebration of life at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River.
