Leonora Skocypec (née Della Rosa), 94, of Toms River, NJ, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Born on April 10, 1931, to Frank and Clara Della Rosa, Leonora was raised in Rahway, NJ. After graduating from Rahway High School, she attended the Newark Preparatory & Business School. She was a secretary for Rahway Junior School for 27 years before her retirement.
Leonora married her husband, Walter Skocypec, on March 31, 1951. They raised their three children in Rahway, and moved to Toms River in 1998. Walter passed away in 1999.
Leonora loved to travel, and in retirement visited many countries around the world with her husband and friends. She was also a longtime volunteer at Community Hospital, a local charity shop, and her church, St. Maximillian Kolbe in Toms River. She was an avid Yankees fan her entire life. Leonora loved spending time with her family, especially summer days on Long Beach Island.
She is survived by her children and their spouses—Marie Rivituso and her husband, Robert, of Wilmington, DE; Patricia Coppel and her husband, Kirk Hessels, of Red Bank, NJ; and Frank Skocypec and his wife, Gail, of Gold Canyon, AZ. Additionally, she is survived by five grandchildren—Emily Butler, Caroline Coppel, Kevin Coppel, Christina Rivituso, and Annie Blackman—and three great-grandchildren, Savannah, Riley, and Eric.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 p.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Twp., NJ. Burial to follow at Whiting Memorial Park, Whiting, NJ.
