Lucy J. (Combs) Scala

Lucy J. Scala, 84, known affectionately as “Bubbie” of the Four Seasons at Mirage, Barnegat, NJ died on Monday April 15, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Brooklyn, NY she lived there and in Staten Island, NY before moving to Barnegat many years ago.

She was a parishioner of St Charles RC Church in Staten Island, St Mary’s church in Barnegat. She was a member of the Brooklyn Club, the Staten Island Club, the Italian club and the Red Hat Society. She loved to dance and bowl with her husband John, with whom she was married for 63 years before his passing in 2021.

She is survived by her five children; Angela Scala, John Jr. and his wife Monica Scala, Philip and his wife Cindy Scala, Andrew and his wife Meghan Scala and Margaret Scala; thirteen cherished grandchildren,

Joseph, Larissa, Matthew, Michael, Ashley, Caitlyn, Johnny, Evan, Sydney, Alexandria, Samantha, Andrew Jr. and Christopher; her brother Andrew Tranchina and many nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by one sister, Loretta Ciscone and three brothers, Joseph Tranchina, John Tranchina and Sal Tranchina.

There will be a Memorial gathering for Lucy on May 5, 2024 from 1-4 at the Four Seasons at Mirage homeowners association clubhouse, 1 Esplande Dr.,  Barnegat, NJ. 08005.

The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals De Bow Chapel 150 West Veterans Hwy, Jackson, NJ is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Lung Association or The American Heart Association.
