Lynn DePietro Obituary

Lynn Kathy DePietro (nee Slocum) of Seaside Park, NJ passed peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2024.  She was predeceased by her loving parents, Si and Dot Slocum, and brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Bernadette Slocum.

Lynn grew up in Mount Tabor and Montville, NJ, graduating from Boonton High School in 1968.  She earned her bachelor’s degree from Russel Sage College in Troy, NY in 1972 and upon graduation, began her career as an educator with Montville Township Public Schools.  She spent her career as a 5th grade teacher at Valley View Elementary, teaching hundreds of students and creating lasting friendships with her “teacher friends”.  Lynn also earned her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Marygrove University.

Lynn was an active sports mom who cheered on her daughter’s various athletic teams.   Lynn was a member of the Montville Township High School Mustang Club and then enjoyed being a Penn State and Uconn fan.  She played tennis for many years at the Knoll Indoor Tennis Club and was an avid golfer as a member of the Mount Tabor Country Club.  Her biggest passion was the New York Yankees, watching almost every game and relishing their many World Series wins in her lifetime.  Upon retirement, Lynn enjoyed living at the beach in Seaside Park, NJ.

Lynn is survived by her loving husband of almost 40 years, Dr. Anthony DePietro, along with her daughters and sons-in-law, Katie and Patrick Abbott of Woolwich Township, NJ and Kimmie and David Spencer of Stamford, CT.  She is also survived by her four wonderful grandchildren Annie, Lucy, Cora and Luke, sister Sherry Slocum of Montville, NJ and her sisters and brother-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to the visitation at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 809 NW Central Avenue Seaside Park, NJ Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 4pm to 8pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, Friday, March 22, 2024 at St. Catherine of Siena Church Seaside Park, New Jersey.
