Margaret M. Kennedy of South Seaside Park, NJ, aged 96 years, passed from this life peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Known as ‘Peg’ to many of her friends, she was born to the late Andrew and Loretto McDonough of East Orange, New Jersey, on May 10, 1926. She was a loving wife to Joseph F. Kennedy, Jr. for 59 years and a devoted mother to her five children. Peg was a lifelong resident of New Jersey, spending most of her adult life in Roselle, NJ, where she was active in various clubs at both Roselle Catholic and Girls Catholic where her children attended school. Peg was a frequent volunteer at school and church. She regularly summered at the Jersey Shore and eventually became a full-time resident of South Seaside Park, NJ. Peg enjoyed the beach (especially 9th Avenue), the boards, and taking regular walks. She could often be found hunting for shells and collecting sea glass along the shore. Peg was an avid reader and puzzle-maker and loved to crochet afghans and other items for family and friends. She was a communicant of St. Catharine of Siena Church, Seaside Park, NJ.
Peg is survived by her four sons, Joseph A. and his wife Kathy of Toms River, NJ; Mick and his wife Becky of Rockville, Maryland; Paul and his wife Lynda of Ocean Gate, NJ; Thomas of Jackson, NJ; and daughter, Anne ‘Nancy’ Eppinger and her husband Bill of Toms River, NJ; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday January 27, 2023 from 4-7pm at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 809 Central Ave., Seaside Park, NJ. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00am on Saturday January 28, 2023, at St. Catharine of Siena R.C. Church, Seaside Park, NJ. A private burial service will be held for immediate family members at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River, NJ.
