Margaret Shea, 87, of Whiting and formerly of Toms River, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
Born in the Bronx, New York, on February 12, 1939, Margaret was the daughter of the late John and Mary Fay. She was a devoted wife, a cherished sister, and a beloved aunt. Margaret attended Walton High School in the Bronx, where she served as Student Council President for the Class of 1960.
Margaret was a Dominican nun for more than 25 years, serving as an educator. She later worked in the banking industry before retiring to the Toms River area. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, John Fay and Mary Helen Farr; her husband, Donald Shea; her sister, Ann Sandklev; and her brother-in-law, Olav Sandklev.
She is survived by her brothers, William Hanson and his partner, Mary Burke, and Richard Hanson Sr. and his wife, Nancy, of Middletown, as well as 13 nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel, New Jersey. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, New Jersey.
