Marguerite Illanovsky, 94, of Holiday City at Berkeley located in Toms River NJ, died on February 2, 2025, at her home residence. Although in her final years she lived alone, she was surrounded by pictures and memories of her family and friends.
Marguerite was born in Carteret, NJ. She graduated from Carteret High School, class of ’48, before attending a NYC Fashion Institute studying to be a dressmaker. She married Peter P. Illanovsky on August 5, 1961. Of all her working years her best work was being a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Marguerite and her family were members of St. John's Russian Orthodox Church in Rahway, NJ.
Marguerite was pre-deceased by her parents, Michael & Julia Shomsky (née Semak), her husband, Peter (2010), her daughter, Marlene (2021), and her brothers Michael, William, and Joseph. Surviving is her son, Jerry, of Rahway, NJ, Maureen (divorcée), and their two sons, Michael and Sean, as well as many nieces and nephews. Burial was at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ. A Celebration of Life event was held in her honor afterward.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River.
