Marie Sullivan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marie Sullivan who left us peacefully on November 14, 2024 at the age of 91. Marie was a beloved friend, family member, and neighbor who touched the lives of everyone she met with kindness, warmth, and a gentle spirit. Born on July 26, 1933 in Newark, NJ, she lived in both Newark and Bloomfield before moving to Toms River where she resided with the love of her life, Arthur, for over 40 years. Throughout her life, Marie was known for her generous nature. She was an avid New York Yankees fan and never missed a game. She dedicated much of her time to donating to numerous charities. She was a woman of faith who firmly believed there was a special place waiting for her in heaven. She had a love of all animals, especially her canine companions throughout the years. She is survived by her nephews and niece, Armando, Richard & Arlene Conte, and Diane Conte, her great nieces and nephews, Stacy and her husband Scott Rafferty and their children, Carly and Riley, Melissa Mazzola and her partner Perry Hughes and great great-nephew Vincent Conte. She is also survived by Robert Sullivan of South Carolina, Michael Conte and his girlfriend Theresa Zdepw of Monroe, NJ and Deborah Conte and her husband Brian Gerko of South Plainfield, NJ, as well as her grandchildren, Jacqueline and Kevin Conte, Lisa Sarro and husband Joseph, Heather, Robert, Ryan, Christina, and Jason Sullivan and 13 great grandchildren; Brielle and Paige Williams, Joseph and Anthony Sarro, Nicolas , Chase, Jon, Liam and Jude Sullivan, Giovanni and Katie Massa, Giuliana  and Emilia Nufrio, her sister in-law Roberta Sullivan, her nieces and nephews Lynn Sullivan and Lorraine Thompson, Linda and Walter Czarnik, Patricia and Joseph Engrassia, James  Jr., John, Karen , Richard and Kevin Sullivan, Mary Mulford, Kent and Dorothy. Marie is predeceased by her parents,  Felice and Marianne (Deluisi), her son Arthur K. Sullivan Jr., her brother in laws James and Walter Sullivan, her brother Felice "Sonny" Conte and sister in-laws Antoinette Conte and Annarae Sullivan, her grandson Sean Sullivan, her nieces Susan Conte Mazzola, Lisa Conte and Marianne Reichler, her nephew Michael Conte Jr. and  her great niece Lauren Conte and loving canine companion Bridget.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Humane Society of the United States; both organizations that were near and dear to her heart.
