Marion A. Hergert, 87 of Forked River, NJ passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandma and Babci. Marion was born on February 14, 1938 to the late Joseph and Margaret (Sikorski) Kuber. She was born and raised with her brother Michael, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY. She met the love of her life Myles J. Hergert while attending a Polish dance at the Manhattan Center in NYC. They were married on March 22,1959 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and have kept that beautiful dance going for 66 years. After their wedding, they settled in Linden, NJ, where they began to grow their life and family. Over the next six years, they became parents to four daughters.
Marion was a busy Mother. Always helping at school, as the girl scout cookie mom, class mother, PTA Mom, etc. Her daughters always knew she was there - to listen to their countless stories, help with homework and drive them to their activities. Marion also worked beside Myles at their family owned Hergert Agency Real Estate office in Linden, NJ for many years. There, she and Myles remained active in the community giving back whenever they could. Marion served as the First Lady of Linden’s Third Ward Democratic Club for 14 years. They enjoyed summers in Waretown, NJ, for many years where they eventually ‘retired’ in 1996. Marion loved living across from Barnegat Bay, and enjoying her coffee or a glass of wine while looking at the diamonds on the bay. Marion’s favorite role in life was being Grandma to 10 of her favorite people. This blessing multiplied as the years flew by, and 9 great grandchildren came to make her their Babci. Marion’s love for her family was strong and deep. Her most important legacy by far is her family. The seeds of love and faith she planted in us have indeed yielded a beautiful harvest which grows beyond the boundaries of her family to all she knew. She has touched more lives than she will ever know.
Marion was a lifelong volunteer serving tirelessly for the churches, schools and hospital in her communities. Of particular note is Marion’s service at the Holly Thrift Shop which grew exponentially under her leadership and continues to thrive today. She was also on the Southern Ocean County Hospital Foundation Board of Directors and their Ladies Auxiliary advocating for the growing healthcare needs of her community.
Marion and Myles were parishioners of St. Elizabeth’s in Linden, and later St. Mary’s Church in Barnegat. Marion was a devoted servant of God in many roles including her work as a Lector, CCD Teacher, Eucharistic Minister, Parish Council President, Retreat leader & Fiesta Fundraiser. In her quiet, dedicated manner Marion’s service and the way she lived embodied her Christian faith.
Marion lives on in her husband Myles J. Hergert; daughters Lauren (John Filipek), Kathleen (David Biggs), Marion (Kevin Kucharski), Janice Hergert, brother Michael Kuber (Carol); loving grandchildren, Caitlyn Biggs, Megan (Richard Savner), Myles Biggs (Claire), John Filipek (Laura), Danielle Biggs (Alex Peck), Jessica Filipek (Anthony Silvia), Kevin Kucharski (Sara), Kristen (Peter Licata), Alison (Viliam Varhol), Emilie Guinan. She is the proud Babci to Mason and Noah Biggs, Kennedy, Richard and Amelia Savner, Lily and John Filipek and Lucas and Hazel Kucharski.
