Mary A. Kelly

Mary A. Kelly, (Cooney)  86 passed away on Saturday November 30 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Philadelphia PA, and raised on Etting Street.  She was a proud graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School in 1956. With her husband and four children, she moved to Toms River NJ in 1974.   She was a  paraprofessional in the Toms River School District for many years. She was a parishioner of St Justin’s RC Church since its opening,  a religious education  instructor and a member of the rosary society. Proud of her Irish heritage, she was a dedicated member of the Ladies AOH Division 1, The Ocean County St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, The Jersey Shore Irish American Assoc. and The Woman of Irish Heritage. Mary loved to sing at any occasion and for many years kicked of the Ocean County St. Patrick’s Day Parade with the Irish and American National Anthems. She had a joy for life, friends and family.  The pleasure of knowing and loving her was ours. Her example of joy and love of life provided many shared memories which will be forever cherished.

Mary is predeceased by her father Joseph Cooney and her mother Mary (Devir), and her loving husband Robert. She is survived by 2 daughters, Maryellen Jacobs (Robert), and Suzanne Kelly. 2 Sons John (Kathy) and Denis (Linda). A brother Patrick and six grandchildren. Andrew, Colleen, Ryan, Robert, Jack and Hilary.

Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Wednesday December 4th 2024 from 3-7pm  at The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 995 Fischer Blvd Toms River NJ. A funeral mass will be offered on Thursday 9:30am at St Justin’s RC Church Toms River.  Burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery Toms River
