Mary Jane Russo, 81, of Toms River, NJ, passed away Wednesday, February 10,
2021.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she grew up in Ridgewood, and lived in River Vale, NJ before moving to Toms River in 1970. Mary Jane graduated St. Clare’s Hospital School of Nursing, attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from St. Joseph College of Maine. She was a Registered Nurse at Community Medical Center, Toms River for 38 years, retiring in 2008.
Mary Jane lived her life in service to others. Over her lifetime she fostered 17
children and cared for countless more. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross, an EMT for the East Dover First Aid and Rescue Squad, sang with St. Justin’s Choir, and was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Mary Jane was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Russo, in 2019.
She is survived by her three children Mark Russo and his wife Jean of Yardley,
PA, Teresa Lyncheski and her husband David of Toms River, Robert Russo and
his wife Christine of Haddonfield, NJ, Foster son Kenneth Matthews and his wife
Karen of Forked River, NJ, her sister Rosemary Young, and six grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, February 18, 2021
4:00pm – 7:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 995 Fischer Blvd.,
Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, February 19, 2021
9:30am at St. Justin the Martyr RC Church, Toms River. Burial to follow at St.
Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.
