Matthew F. Mark, Sr., 80, of Seaside Park, NJ, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at home surrounded by his beloved family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ, he lived and raised his family in Carteret, NJ and was a lifelong summer vacationer of Seaside Park before moving there permanently in 2007.
Matthew was a proud United States Navy veteran, serving on the USS Davis.
He was a graduate of Seton Hall University and worked as an Accountant, many of those years in the garment industry in New York City.
Matthew was a active parishioner of St. Catharine of Siena Church of the St. Junipero Serra Parish, Seaside Park, and was a former parishioner of Divine Mercy Parish, Carteret, NJ.
Matt was a proud member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 8415.
He was also an active member of the Silver Ridge Park West Golf Club, and former member of The Holy Name Society, the Lion’s Club, and a Junior Achievement Volunteer.
He was an avid fisherman, New York Giants fan and a passionate Golfer, once achieving a Hole in One.
Matthew is survived by his loving wife, Theresa (Nee Bosze,) his four children Karen Kacani and her husband Timothy of Metuchen, NJ, Matthew Mark, Jr. and his wife Siobhain of Middletown, NJ, Susan Mark and her loving partner Don Brown of Metuchen, NJ, and Nancy Moriarty and her husband Michael of Marlton, NJ.
He is also survived by his twin brother Michael “Mickey” Mark and his wife Doris of Colonia, NJ, a sister in law Irene Sohayda of Toms River, NJ and nine grandchildren- Kate and her husband Jack, Matthew III, Brendan, Jake, Kelly, Mairead, Molly, Erin and Cole, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, April 25, 2021 2:00pm – 6:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 809 Central Ave., Seaside Park, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday, April 26, 2021 at St. Catharine of Siena Church of the St. Junipero Serra Parish, Seaside Park 10am. Please arrive at the funeral home at 9am. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.
