Maureen Gillmore Obituary

Maureen A. Gillmore (nee Dwyer), 77, of Lavallette, NJ, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Visiting will be at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 706 Grand Central Ave., Lavallette, NJ, on Thursday, February 8, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at the Parish of St. Pio of Pietrelcina, 1100 Grand Central Ave, Lavallette, on Friday, February 9, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge, NJ.

Raised in Elizabeth, NJ, Maureen lived in Basking Ridge, NJ, for 30 years before moving to Lavallette in 2002. She attended Kean College and was a dental assistant for many years prior to raising her family. She was involved with Junior Women’s Club, an active member of St James Church in Basking Ridge, volunteering as a CCD teacher for many years, and volunteering at St Simon’s soup kitchen. She was a member of St Pio and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary as well as Lavallette Yacht Club. Maureen loved playing tennis, surf fishing, gardening, reading, and taking walks at the beach in search of sea glass. She loved living life to the fullest with her beloved Donnie, with whom she was married to for 49 years.

Maureen was predeceased by her parents, Thomas F. Dwyer and Sarah (Dolly) Dwyer; her husband Donald E. Gillmore II; her brothers, Thomas Dwyer, Bernard Dwyer, and Kevin Dwyer; and her brother in law George Gillmore and sister in law Ginny Gillmore.

She is survived by her daughters, Colleen Flood and her husband Kevin of Denville, NJ; Kristin Young and husband Troy of Annandale, NJ; and Lauren Beck and husband Eric of High Bridge, NJ; and her pride and joy—her grandchildren: Brendan and Katie Flood, Carson and Kendall Young, and Brady, Delaney, and Liam Beck. She will be dearly missed by her brother and sisters in law, James Gillmore and wife Bonnie, Bernadette Dwyer, Lois Dwyer, and Gail Dwyer, and many nieces and nephews.

Donations in Maureen’s memory can be made to Morristown Hospital, 100 Madison Avenue, Morristown, NJ 07960, where she received excellent care from so many wonderful nurses, doctors, and staff.
