Maureen Russell nee Ryan, 81 of Lavallette, NJ passed away on Saturday May 16, 2026 at Community Medical Center surrounded by her loving daughter and cherished grandchildren. Maureen was born in Jersey City, NJ. She graduated from St. Aloysius Academy in Jersey City. Maureen grew up and lived in Bayonne, NJ before moving to Lavallette in 1995. Maureen worked as a Secretary for the Bayonne Board of Education in Bayonne for many years. She was heavily active in politics in Bayonne and Hudson County. She was a parishioner of Padre Pio RC Church in Lavallette.
Maureen loved tradition, holidays with her loved ones, annual New Year’s Eve parties with all her friends and neighbors and big family dinners. She was an avid Mets fan, always the life of the party and loved sitting outside watching the sunset and listening to music with her husband. Her sense of humor made everyone around her laugh and smile and love her all the more. Maureen’s biggest joy was her family and she lived selflessly for them.
Maureen is predeceased by her parents, Esther (Bouton) Ryan and David C. Ryan, her loving husband, Daniel of over 60 years and her beloved son, Richard Russell. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Kerri (Russell) Russo and her husband, James Russo of Toms River, NJ and the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Daniel, Kassidy and Kileigh Russo
She is also survived by her brother Billy Thomas and his wife, Fran, her sister, Diane Kristol and her husband, Jeffrey, her sister, Joan Foley and her husband, Raymond, and her brother, Jack Ryan and his wife, Peggy. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Wednesday, May 20th from 3 to 7pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 706 Grand Central Ave Lavallette, NJ. The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, May 21st at 10am at Padre Pio RC Church, Lavallette, NJ. Entombment will follow to St Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
