Michael A. Beining, Sr., 44, of Toms River, NJ, died on Sunday August 3, 2025. He passed away at his home, peacefully surrounded by family and supported by his friends, after more than six years battling cancer. He was blessed to raise his children Michael Jr. and Isabella.
He was a graduate of the MATES Program at Toms River High School South. A three sport athlete, Mike was a varsity letter winner for football, winter track, and spring track. He cherished and exhibited his Indian Pride throughout his life, and looked forward to watching his children and niece and nephews attend his alma mater in his legacy.
Mike was a Seaside Park lifeguard for many summer seasons, on the same beach as his grandfather decades before him.
He attended college at Massachusetts Maritime Academy where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in marine safety and environmental protection in 2003.
His life was dedicated to service. Upon graduating Officers Training at the US Coast Guard Academy, Mike proudly served his country as a Lieutenant in the US Coast Guard for 11 years. As an Eagle Scout, Mike served as a Scout Leader for Pack 1 and Troop 1, where he was instrumental in the development and promotion of countless scouts.
After serving his Country, he worked as a Safety and Environmental Officer for Subcom, an Under Water Cable Company.
He was a parishioner of St Joseph’s Church in Toms River, NJ where he made his own sacraments and proudly watched his children do the same.
Mike enjoyed taking his children and family to Island Beach State Park for fishing, cookouts, bonfires, and beloved family time.
An avid car enthusiast, Mike built from scratch his own General Lee, modeled after the Duke brothers’ car. If you saw the smoking tires and orange blur, and heard the telltale Duke’s horn, you knew it was Mike. An integral part of the Cruzin’ Downtown car show, Mike enjoyed spreading his love of cars to all.
Michael was predeceased by his grandparents Arthur and Helen Disque, William A. II and Carol Beining. He is survived by his children Michael A. Jr and Isabella. His parents William “Bill” III and Patricia (Disque). His brother Bill IV and his wife Kate, and his niece, Josie, and nephews, Auggie and Teddy. His uncle Paul Beining, and cousins Alexa Beining (Cale Morris) and Sophia Beining. His aunt Anne (Jack) Moyse III and cousins Maureen Hartlieb and Jack (Abby) Moyse IV. Their children Abby and Wyatt Hartlieb and Finley and Dawson Moyse. As well as many extended family members and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Monday August 11, 2025, from 3pm to 6pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 145 St Catherine Blvd. Toms River, NJ. The Funeral Mass for Michael will be offered on Tuesday 10am at St. Joseph’s Church in Toms River. Committal will be private. Condolences may be sent to www.ryanfuneralhome.com.
