Nancy Christine (Hughes) Makoski

Nancy Christine Makoski, 74 of Bayville, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Friday, August 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born in Orange, New Jersey on February 14, 1951. She was a graduate of Irvington High School, class of 1969, and a graduate of Newark College, now known as Kean University with a Bachelor’s in Education. Nancy was a loving and devoted wife to her high school sweetheart, Steven; they shared 52 wonderful years together. 

She enjoyed traveling the world, her favorite spot was sitting on a beach, watching the waves, and reading a book. She also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City casinos, bowling, and reading. But her absolute favorite thing to do was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Nancy was a lover of learning and a natural teacher. Nancy was a proud elementary teacher within the Woodbridge Township School District.

Nancy is predeceased by her parents, William Hughes and Christine Blasie Hughes. Nancy is survived by her husband, Steven Makoski; son, Daniel Makoski and his wife Kristen; daughter, Elizabeth Piccirillo and her husband, Louis; brother William Hughes and his wife Dorothy; sister, Elizabeth Tempel and her husband James; her cherished grandchildren, Christine, Sarah, Juliette, and William. She was a shining light to all who knew her including many family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Nancy will be remembered with a celebration of life ceremony with family and friends in the near future.
