Nathan A. Abbe, 99, of the Holiday City West Section of Berkeley Twsp., died on Friday, April 8, 2022. Born in Bronx, NY, he lived in Queens, NY before moving to Holiday City West in 1984. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, serving as a Sergeant for the 45th Infantry. Nathan was a graduate of City College New York and a Master’s Candidate with New York University. He worked as a Merchandise Planner for Milton Petry in New York City. Nathan retired to Berkeley Twsp., where he served on the town council for 17 years, also acting as past President. He was a past President of the Berkeley Democratic Club, Commissioner of the Berkeley Sewage Authority, and Trustee for Holiday City West; he was the last surviving member of the 157th Infantry Regiment of the 45th Infantry Division that liberated Dachau concentration camp, a member of the Bayville VFW Post 9503, as well as an avid Bridge player. He is predeceased by his loving wife Leonore. He is survived by his daughters; Alyce Abbe of Brooklyn, NY, and Meryl Roschwalb of Bayside, NY. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Park, Woodbridge, NJ on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 11am.
