Paul J. Garrett, 89 of Berkeley Township, passed from this life peacefully at home with his family present. Paul was born July 23, 1935, in Alton, Illinois to the late Calvin and Emma Garrett. He is best described by his family as a man that was honest, faithful, trusting and selfless. Paul spent 4 years in the United States Air Force as a crash and rescue fireman on the flightline at Stead Air Force Base, Reno, Nevada. He always wore a big smile and enjoyed times with his family and friends, especially when there was a beer involved. He was always working, fixing or building something. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing and watching the St Lois Cardinals, and his favorite, listening to Classic Country Music. He and his wife traveled extensively over the years and found how much they enjoyed being together as empty nesters. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and they will miss his catch phrase greeting, “Hi Turk.” If Paul’s garage door was up, he was ready for company.
Paul is predeceased by his parents, Calvin Garrett; Emma Mae Bennington; brothers, Henry Garrett; Orville Garrett; Woodrow Garrett; Thomas Garrett; twin sister, Pauline Henderson; grandchildren, Raven Doss and Michael Capone.
Paul is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gail Petrick Garrett; son, Paul Joseph Garrett and his wife Christine of Florida; daughters, Stacey Gail Garrett of Toms River; Candace Diane Capone of Port St. Lucie, Florida; brothers, Frankie Garrett and his wife Jackie; Calvin Garrett and his wife Jean; sisters, Sarah Colman; Louise Higgenbotham; Mary Warren; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren
