Rev. Robert M. Tynski

Rev. Robert M. Tynski, 61, of Mays Landing, NJ, formerly of Lavallette, NJ, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at his home.

Born in New Brunswick, NJ, he was a lifelong resident of Lavallette, NJ before recently moving Mays Landing.

Bob received a BA in Philosophy from St. Mary’s College, Orchard Lake, MI and a Master’s Degree in Religious Studies from the University of Detroit.  He later received a Master’s Degree in Divinity from St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, MD and was ordained to the Roman Catholic Priesthood on May 20, 1989 in Trenton, NJ.

Bob served God’s people as Parochial Vicar at St. Mary’s Church, New Monmouth, NJ from 1989-1994 and St. Joseph’s Church, Toms River from 1994-1995.  He then served at the Trenton Office of Vocations from 1995-1999, and served as Pastor of St. Agnes Church, Atlantic Highlands from 2001-2009 and at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Highland, NJ from 2007-2009.

In 2009, Bob took an indefinite leave of absence from the priesthood and became a “A Friend of Bill”, doing his best to make amends and doing his best to have a positive outlook on life by seeking God’s help.  His life was greatly influenced by the example of St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta and all the wonderful people, whose example he sought to follow, at the Barn for the Poorest of the Poor in Middletown, NJ.

Bob enjoyed playing Poker at Borgata, which he either won or made the final table at many Texas No Limit Hold’em Tournaments, and was a faithful member of the “Raider Nation”, following the Oakland/Los Angeles/Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders since 1975.  He attended as many games in person as he was able to.

He was predeceased by his parents, Robert M. Tynski, Sr. in 2013 and Florence Tynski in 2021.

He is survived by his cousin Elaine Tilton and her husband Walter and their children Christine, Michael and his wife Chayanne.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 3:00pm – 7:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 706 Grand Central Ave., Lavallette, NJ.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wednesday, July 17, 2024 10:00am at the Parish of St. Pio of Pietrelcina, Lavallette, NJ.  Burial to follow at St. Catharine Cemetery, Sea Girt, NJ.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
