Richard E. Bassler, 92, of Holiday City South section of Berkeley Twp., NJ, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026.
Born in Passaic, NJ, he lived in West Paterson, NJ for over 20 years before moving to Berkeley Twp. in 1999.
Richard was a Truck Loader for Wonder Bread in Paterson, NJ and was a member of the Teamsters.
He was a parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Twp. and was a member of the Holiday City South Men’s Club. He was also a former member of the Bocce Club, Shuffleboard Club, and the Fishing Club.
Richard was predeceased by his parents Erich Bassler and Clara Gansereit and his sister Iris Nyman.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Evelyn (nee Openhym), his three children Richard Bassler, Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Ridgewood, NJ, Darlene Schultz and her husband Richard of Berkeley Twp., NJ and Kathleen Sateary and her husband Tom of Hillsborough, NJ, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Service are private and under the direction of the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River.
