Richard A. Gilmour

Richard A. Gilmour, 72, of Lavallette, NJ, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, he lived in Piscataway, NJ before moving to Lavallette.

Richard was a Union Electrician for the IBEW Local 456 and was a General Foreman for most of his career with Hatzel & Bueler in New Brunswick, NJ and Forest Electric.  Following his retirement, he worked at the Lavallette Recycling Center.

He was a member the Moose Lodge, Ortley Beach and was a member and Past President of the Lavallette Fire Company.

Richard was a great husband, father and Pop Pop and was a friend to all.  He enjoyed watching the New York Yankees, Friday Night Poker and breakfast at Meg’s.

Richard especially loved to attend his grandkids’ games.

He was predeceased by his parents Charles W. Jr. and Mary Lorraine (nee Gahan) and his brothers Chuck, Thomas and James Gilmour

Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years Lorraine (nee Counts), his daughter Lisa Brosnan and her husband Michael, his son Steven Gilmour and his wife Amanda, two sisters Jacquelyn Gehrsitz and her husband Richard, Mary Lorraine Yetter and her husband Brian, and seven grandchildren Jenna & Liam, Tyler & Brayden, Kaylie, Mariah & Andrew.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, September 18, 2023 4:00pm – 8:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 706 Grand Central Ave., Lavallette, NJ.  A funeral service will be offered Tuesday, September 19, 2023 10:00am at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lavallette First Aid Squad.
