Robert Scairpon Obituary

Robert (Bob) Scairpon, affectionately known as "Pop," of Ortley Beach, Toms River Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Born in New Brunswick, NJ, Bob built a life grounded in family, friendship, and service. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959 as a radioman aboard the diesel submarines USS Tunny, USS Bonita, and USS Perch. Following his honorable service, Bob embarked on a lifelong career with Verizon. Through dedication, integrity, and hard work, he rose to the position of District Manager. Over an impressive 42-year tenure, he became not only a respected leader but also a trusted mentor and cherished friend to many.

Bob was a devoted husband to Patricia, the love of his life for 59 years. They shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and partnership and together they built a beautiful life centered around family. Although Patricia passed before him, her memory remained close to his heart everyday. He was also preceded in death by his parents, James and Marie Scairpon, and his brother, Jimmy Scairpon.

Bob’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving children: Robert (Denise) of Andover, NJ; Thomas (Betty) of Hackettstown, NJ; Lisa (Thomas) Graham of Hackettstown, NJ; and Jennifer (Vincent) Leone of Ortley Beach, NJ. His strength, kindness, and unwavering love will live on through them. He also leaves behind his dear brother John (Jack) Scairpon and his wife Helen (Vickie) of Berkeley Township; sisters Anne Penna of North Carolina and Linda Kosnar of Colorado; ten adoring grandchildren — Amanda, Justin, Courtney, Thomas, Jessica, Rebecca, Morgan, Lilliana, Vincent, and Christian; and six cherished great-grandchildren - Teagan, Raelyn, Madelyn, Abigail, Kaiden, and Thomas, who will always remember their Pop’s warm smile and gentle spirit.

A passionate fan of Rutgers, the Washington Redskins, and the New York Yankees, Bob rarely missed a game and cheered on his teams with loyalty and pride.

Bob lived a life full of love and purpose — from family gatherings filled with laughter and storytelling to peaceful days spent on the front porch by the beach he adored. He treasured his time at the American Legion, where he found camaraderie, friendship, and meaning in community. He will be remembered for his wisdom, his kind and welcoming nature, and above all, his boundless love for his family. To know Bob was truly to be loved by him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 706 Grand Central Avenue, Lavallette, NJ.

Though he may be gone, Bob’s spirit will forever echo in the laughter of his family, the waves of Ortley Beach, and the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
