Russell V. Serrante, 80 of Sonata Bay section of Bayville, NJ passed away on Saturday April 24, 2021 at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ. Russell was born in Brooklyn, NY and was a long time resident of Great Kills on Staten Island, NY before moving to Bayville, NJ in 2017. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle; in every life he touched, Russ was a strong, kind, loving support figure. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family.
Russ enjoyed gathering with family, his wife’s cooking and a good sangria. Born to explore the great outdoors, he grew up riding horses, and enjoyed camping and rafting trips with his family. He was a Sergeant for the NYPD in Brooklyn, NY for 20 yrs. After his retirement, he and his “Child Bride” made multiple trips cross country in their RV to take in and explore “Big Sky” country.
Russell is predeceased by his parents Andrew and Regina Serrante; his siblings Elizabeth Gassett, Mary Ann Fisher, Andrea Brady, Patricia Serrante and John Serrante.
Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years Frieda Serrante; his daughters Gina Hughes and her husband John and Cynthia Robisky and her husband Edward; his sister Christine Maher; his two grandchildren Brianna and Christina Robisky and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday April 30, 2021 from 5-8pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals O’Connell Chapel, 706 Rt. 9 Bayville, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday May 1, 2021 at 9:30am at St. Barnabas RC Church in Bayville, NJ. Entombment will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in Toms River, NJ.
