Scott David Francis, NJSP 5444 (Ret.), age 63, of Toms River, NJ, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
Born in Staten Island, NY, he lived in Brick, NJ before moving to Toms River 40 years ago.
Scott was a New Jersey State Trooper for 25 years and retired a Sergeant First Class for the New Jersey State Police. Scott began his career as a Marine State Trooper teaching boating safety courses before being assigned to the Community Services Unit and eventually to the Highway Traffic Safety Unit in Trenton, New Jersey. Scott also maintained a business as the resident “pool guy” for so many friends, family members, and co-workers for 30 years.
He was a member of the FA&M Harmony Lodge, STFA and supported the Toms River VFW.
Scott was predeceased by his father Herbert Francis.
He is survived by his wife Sylvia (nee Palombo), two sons Scott Francis of Toms River, Andrew Francis of Toms River, a daughter and son in law Amy and Michael Lemanski of Toms River and two grandchildren Elizabeth and Penelope, his mother Joan Francis of Brick, NJ, two brothers Jeffrey Francis of Virginia and David Francis of Brick, NJ.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 3:00pm – 7:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A funeral service will be offered on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the funeral home. A committal service will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
