Sylvia Mae (Klotz) Pugliese was called home to Heaven on October 17, 2023. She was resting peacefully when she passed, and in her final days she was enveloped by the loving family she shared with her late husband Dominick. She was 89 years old.
Born May 31, 1934, to the late Elizabeth Perkins and Stanley Klotz, in a small coal mining town in Pennsylvania, Sylvia was the older sister of Barbara, who predeceased her in 2008.
She moved to Jersey City at the age of thirteen. It was there where she met the great love of her life, Dominick, and where they raised their two daughters, Donna and Jo-Ann. Sylvia dedicated herself to her family and her community. She volunteered time to many church organizations and various school and community activities.
If asked what she was most proud of Sylvia would say her family. Sylvia was a true matriarch. Her cooking was inimitable, and her dinners bore a generational bond as family gathered around a kitchen table for magical Sunday Feasts. She adored her five grandchildren, and her four great-grandchildren. After relocating to Toms River in 2007, Sylvia most enjoyed time spent tending to her flowers and watching her growing family come together.
She was quick-witted, bold, and possessed infinite faith.
It was with that powerhouse demeanor, boundless faith, and unmatched love for family that she was able to care for her husband Dominick and together beat odds as they battled his brain cancer diagnosis for four years until his passing.
Sylvia is now at peace and reunited with Dominick who predeceased her in 2014.
She will be missed beyond measure.
Left to honor Sylvia and remember her love are her two daughters Donna Magliaro and her husband Albert of Toms River, NJ, Jo-Ann Pritzlaff and her husband Edward of Monroe Twp., NJ, five grandchildren Lindsey Reichelt and her husband Eduard, Michele Modugno and her husband Anthony, Marc Magliaro, Christopher Pritzlaff and his wife Michele, Jena Kircher and her husband Evan and four great grandchildren Emilia Reichelt, Dominick Reichelt, Dominic Modugno, and Valentina Pritzlaff. She is also survived by her two sisters-in-law, Rose Seaman and Vita Marie Watson, and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family wants to thank Springpoint Living at Manalapan and Dove Hospice for their loving care of Sylvia.
