Vanessa Anne (Carlson) Fitzpatrick

Vanessa Anne Fitzpatrick (nee Carlson), 64 of Toms River, NJ passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, October 8, 2020. Vanessa was born in Champagne-Urbana Illinois and grew up in Holmdel, NJ before moving to Toms River in 1983. She attended St. John Vianney High School and Montclair State College where she received her degree in Physical Education. She was a Senior HR Generalist for Optioncare.

Most of all, Vanessa loved her family. She took the time to make sure everyone knew - letters, pictures, cards, gifts… all carefully chosen even when she was fighting her hardest. Best of all though, her laugh. The best laugh ever. Vanessa’s laugh turned everyone else’s giggle into a belly laugh. Vanessa’s legacy lives on in every person who was fortunate enough to call her family.

Vanessa is predeceased by her brother Kris Carlson, and her parents David and Theresa Carlson.

Surviving is her loving husband Ken of Toms River, NJ; her five children Lori Martin of Forked River, NJ, Eric Fitzpatrick in the US Navy, Jeffrey Scoras of Fuquay Varina, NC, Mark Fitzpatrick of Los Angeles, CA and Kelly Jean Fitzpatrick of Brooklyn, NY, nine grandchildren Emma Fitzpatrick, Abigail Martin, Wyatt Martin, Jeremy Drewry Jr., Joseph Drewry, Lily Campbell, Ava Campbell, Parker Scoras and Cole Scoras and also her sister Lori Carlson.

Family will receive friends to celebrate Vanessa’s life on Wednesday October 14, 2020 from 3-6pm with a 5pm Service at The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 145 St. Catherine Blvd. Toms River, NJ. In lieu of flowers, Vanessa requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
