Wayne Bloom Obituary

Wayne P. Bloom passed away on September 16, 2021. He was 77 years old. He was a true old-time, old school boy from Lavallette growing up enjoying the fun of the ocean and bay. He lived with his son Peter, who provided him with very comfortable surroundings in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Dawsonville, Georgia. Wayne was the son of the late fire chief, Peter W. Bloom of Lavallette, New Jersey and his mother, Esther J. Bloom. He is survived by his sister, Linda J. Brideau and her husband William of Franklin, Massachusetts. He also leaves behind his companion, Patti Russen of many years. Wayne often referred to her as the best. Wayne also had his own family. He was previously married to Lynn Davies. They had two children. A son, Peter W. Bloom of Dawsonville, Georgia and his companion Denise, and a daughter, Angelique Bloom-Gowgill of Marble, North Carolina. He also has two granddaughters, a great-grandson, two nieces, three great-nieces, three great-nephews, and many cousins in Jackson, New Jersey, Florida, North Carolina, California, and Tennessee. Wayne was a police officer in Lavallette, New Jersey as well as a member of the West Palm Sheriff Department in Florida. Wayne also spent some of his years working for Bill-Jim Construction in Jackson, New Jersey. There he learned many valuable lessons. Wayne spent some time in a boxing ring. He became quite proficient at this sport and his skills were developed while he worked at the Play Boy Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Wayne was also a member of the Lavallette Volunteer Fire Department. He took great pride in this endeavor and loved being part of the annual oyster supper. Instead of flowers, if you wish to remember Wayne, donations may be made to the Lavallette Fire Department at 125 Washington Avenue, Lavallette, New Jersey 08735. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Brielle, New Jersey. He will be laid to rest with his parents. The burial will be private as Wayne requested.
