Bill was born April 17, 1934 in White Plains, New York and lived in Paterson NJ before marrying Alice (Martin) in 1960. After they were married, they settled in Ringwood, NJ where they raised their 3 boys before moving to Toms River 30 years ago.
He was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Bill served his country Honorably in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956 where he was a radio operator stationed in Alaska. After the service, he spent the majority of his career as a car salesman first with Ford, then Buick and later Porsche/Audi in Englewood, NJ where he won many awards for being the top salesman.
He was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church in Berkeley Twp.
He was also an amateur magician and entertained friends and family with amazing card tricks, pulling quarters from behind ears, and other clever acts. He also loved music, especially Frank Sinatra and he loved to dance.
Bill was an avid golfer and absolutely loved being out on the course. When he wasn’t playing, he was watching tournaments on TV. He also worked at Lakewood Country Club in Lakewood NJ for many years, where he was thrilled to hit a hole in one.
His friends and family all adored him. He relished getting together and laughing with his large group of lifelong friends. In addition, his family and grandchildren brought him so much joy. Everything they did made him so proud. He also spent many summers vacationing with them at the Jersey Shore.
He was one of the nicest and kindest men who ever lived and the definition of a gentleman. He brought smiles to everyone he met. He was always the first to offer a helping hand and was the consummate party host, putting others first with his signature “Can I get you anything?”
He spent the last two years at the Menlo Park Veterans Home in Edison NJ where he became friends with residents and the amazing staff who cared for him as if he was their own father.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
