Robert (Bob) J. Evans, 83, of Jackson, NJ, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 with his loving wife
Gayle by his side. Born in Oakhurst, NJ, Bob lived in Asbury Park, Lakewood and Toms River before
moving to Jackson 15 years ago. He proudly served his country in the United States Army before
establishing his own business in 1962; Bob Evans Refrigeration and Air Conditioning in Asbury Park, NJ.
His life was dedicated to the service business and he will be missed by so many more than just family.
Lucky to have found love twice, his later years were a blend of family, work, friends, food and laughter.
There was never a shortage of stories from the old Oakhurst days, or his motorcycle adventures, that
always brought smiles to those listening.
He loved to cook and have family over for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Always ending the evening by
expressing “This was great.” Those who knew him knew how knowledgeable he was on a vast number of
topics. Anyone he had time to talk to knew how proud he was of his family. Those that loved him will
remember his strong hands, his powerful embrace, and the famous wink with a smile.
He is preceded in death by his beloved son Matt Evans, his parents William and Elsie Evans, brother
William Evans, and his sisters; Inez McMeans and Alice Tammaro. Bob is survived by his loving wife
Gayle, his children; Wade and his wife Gigi Evans, Mark and his wife Theresa Evans, and Bobbie and her
husband William Gallagher, his step-daughter Laura and her husband Ryan Hurley, his sister Martha
Smith and her husband Lewis Teed, eight grandchildren, Colin Evans, Jade Siciliano, Chelsea Gallagher,
Adam Evans, Alanna Gallagher, Austin Gallagher and Tyrell Evans, and six great grandchildren, Calista,
Nathan, JJ, Kaiden, Noah, and Luna Marie. Bob has 2 grandchildren and one great grandchild with Autism
and the family would ask that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to POAC Autism Services, 1989
NJ-88, Brick Township, NJ 08724, in his memory. A Committal Service will be celebrated on
Friday, May 14, 2021 at 10am at the BG William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. All
arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St Catherine
Blvd., Toms River, NJ. Condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting
